Jérôme Valcke (born 6 October 1960) has served as the Secretary General of FIFA from 2007–2015. In 2015, a letter to Valcke was published that requested him to transfer a US $10 million payment from South African officials to CONCACAF in 2008. It was alleged that the payment was a bribe to Jack Warner in exchange for votes for South Africa to host the 2010 World Cup. In September 2015, he was suspended and relieved of his duties as FIFA secretary general until further notice. ==Career== Valcke was employed as a journalist at the French TV company Canal+. From 1991 until 1997 he held the office of deputy chief of sport. In 1997 he took over the position of chief executive officer at Sport+.
